Peaceful Wishes

Today's card is my final Kitchen Sink Stamps sponsored design as a design team member since the store will be closing shop at midnight PST on Wednesday, July 31. I have had the remarkable pleasure of working with Maria and her amazing art almost from the beginning of Kitchen Sink Stamps. My first purchase from her was the classic Heart & Roses. Although KSS is closing, you will still see her beautiful images showing up in my work from time to time. Her realistic, layered images are themselves timeless. They will therefore never go out of style and will always be among my favorites. Thank you, Maria for the beauty and joy you have brought into my life with your exquisite talent.

Thank you to each of you who have followed by work here as well as at Splitcoaststampers and left such sweet comments. What a blessing you have been to my life.

I chosen to create with the Graceful Swan today since it is still in stock in the store. I know many people shy away from white images so I am including the color recipe I used to create the swan today. My main advice to you when trying to stamp a layered white image is to ALWAYS leave off Layer 1. Start stamping with Layer 2 in the palest gray you have and go up from there.

I created today's Kitchen Sink Stamps sponsored card for a friend who has been through some tough times, of late. She has been on my heart and in my prayers as well as the prayers of many others for quite awhile. In recent days, positive things have finally started to come together and are moving in a very positive direction for her life.  Her own prayers and faithfulness have played a huge part in this, for sure.

Images used to create this card are from the

following Kitchen Sink Stamps sets:

Gratitude and Grief - KSS

This past week has been one of gratitude and grief for me. I have been so blessed by the love and generosity of friends during this time of isolation. A thank you at the front door when they drop off a bowl of homemade ice cream or on the phone when they connect me with the perfect person to clean my gutters before the rain is just not enough. So the first of today's Kitchen Sink Stamps sponsored designs is one of the thank you cards going out to these lovely people.

It was created using the newly released set Old World Door Multi Step Clear Stamps with a little help from Potted Topiaries Multi Step Clear Stamps (pot) and Coffee Mate Greetings Clear Stamps (thanks). I turned the door into a window by cutting out sections of the door and adding a bit of brick below the windowsill. An inside peek shows some of the climbing roses in a pot on the kitchen table.

Happy Birthday, Dad

Well, today's Kitchen Sink Stamps sponsored design is another birthday card for my dad who is turning 91 this week. Although I created this card for him last week, I think 91 certainly deserves more than one card and one celebration so we will be celebrating all week!! How blessed I am to still have both my parents.

Ran into a small challenge with Dad this week. Turns out that a new law requires you present a birth certificate to renew your driver's licence in Texas. Dad says, "I don't have one."  I said, "Are you sure? Let's go look."

He looked at his home in all the places he keeps important papers and says, "There is not one here."

I say, "Let's go to the bank and check your safety deposit box. That's were I would keep it." So we head to the bank and sure enough, there is one. Turns out his mother tracked one down for him in 1945 when he turned 16 so he could get a Social Security number and go to work. So glad we dodged that bullet.

Then it was back to the DPS where he passed his vision test and got a renewed license. He is still very active in the community and drives himself and my mother to the places where they need to be.

Kitchen Sink Stamps used to create this design include:

I am entering this card in the following challenges this week:

Let's Make a Scene #101 - KSS

It's hard to believe that I have been making and posting Let's Make a Scene cards sponsored by and created with Kitchen Sink Stamps for almost 5 years now. Being the second Monday of August means that it is time for another one, and I am proud to say that this one is #101. It's another masculine birthday card which I need many of about this time of the year.

The images used to create this design come from the following KSS sets:

To create this card I stamped the male and female ducks first on a 4.5 x 6.6 white panel. I then masked the ducks and added the rocks and lake. After masking the rocks, I added the cattails. To finish the card I brushed on a blue sky and dabbed on white acrylic paint clouds. Once they were dried (maybe one minute), I added the sentiment. To turn the panel into a card, I matted it with brown and attached it to a kraft 5 x 7 card.

Today's card has been entered in the following challenges:

Soar High, My Friend - KSS

Today's card sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps is a masculine sympathy card created using stamps from the following KSS sets:

My favorite method for creating clouds is to dab my finger in white acrylic paint and pat it around until I get the cloud shapes I want. It is quick and easy and like real clouds, I get a variety of shapes.

Owl by Big Bay Lake - KSS

Today's Let's Make a Scene design sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps is one of the cards I created for display at Junkie Fest in Minnesota last month. It is the final card I rushed to finish before shipping the prepared cards to Maria. It was down to the wire so I didn't get any notes recorded about the colors on this card. Therefore, there won't be any color recipes today, but I hope you enjoy this night owl and full moon card anyway!

Kitchen Sink Sets Used in this design include:

Today's card has been entered in the following challenges:

As You Like It Challenge - Favourite Bird or Beast and WHY? - The owl is my current favorite bird. As I sit on my patio after dark, I can hear one calling in the distance but have yet to spot it!! I hope to soon!

Scenes from Junkie Fest and Yellow Daisies - KSS

Being the second Monday of July, this is one of the days that I usually post a Let's Make a Scene design sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps. Well, today I am sharing a couple of scenes that I created for Maria to share at Junkie Fest that mix in some of the new sets she used there that have now been released for all to enjoy.

These are the KSS sets I used to create the card above with the July releases listed first:

And I paired these with images from the KSS June Release as well as older sets:

This second card uses the following sets from the new July release:

I certainly hope the participants at Junkie Fest enjoyed these cards as much as I enjoyed creating them! My heart just seems to belong to masculine scenes!! They are my absolute favorite type of card to create.

Also released this month is Fresh as a Daisy Multi Step Clear Stamps. The card below was created for the Thank You, Thank You Very Much Challenge hosted by my blogging friend, Jeanette Cloyd, on Virtual Stamp Night over at Splitcoaststampers. The sentiment is from Make a Big Statement Clear Stamps by KSS.

The color recipe I am sharing today is for stamping the daisies in yellow.
