CCEE1607 - National Drink Wine Day

Who knew? In America, February 18 is National Drink Wine Day. For this week's CCEE Stampers' Challenge, I have asked the lovely ladies to include a wine glass or bottle on today’s card in honor of this weird day!

Cheers to you as we celebrate this fun day!

Universal Children's Day - CCEE 1547

Tomorrow is Universal Children's Day. Frances, our November CCEE hostess, has asked that we create a card featuring a child having fun of some type.

When I was a child, the most fun I had involved trips to the library where I loaded up on books which took me on amazing adventures all over the world! What a blessing reading has been to my life! So much so that my life's work was teaching children to read by sharing my love for books with them. I never taught from a basal reader, but always from the amazing world of children's literature! Hopefully, that love for reading has served them well.

CCEE1508 - Moonstruck

This week's CCEE hostess, Sabrina says, "Interestingly, because February is a short month, there can actually be years in which there is no full moon at all. The last time this happened was 1999, the next time will be 2018. So while this isn’t one of those years - feature the moon on your cards."

Sounds like fun so here goes! I created an anniversary card!

SCS Ways to Use It - Challenge 380

I had fun mixing together images to created this window scene for SCS WT380 which required a window or a door. I selected to use the Grand Madison Window by Poppy Stamps. The moon is from Owl & Autumn Moon Multi Step Clear Stamps by Kitchen Sink Stamps while the trees are from Lovely as a Tree by Stampin' Up. I then selected this sentiment from Out on a Limb Sentiments by Papertrey Ink.

For inks I used:

Moon - 3 SU Peach Parfait, 2 SU Apricot Appeal, 1 SU Daffodil Delight

Sky - sponged SU Midnight Muse

Ground - sponged SU Always Artichoke

Trees and sentiment - Memento Tuxedo Black

And don't forget to check back on Monday to get the promo code for Kitchen Sink's 6 Months to the Holidays Blow Out Sale. All items in the store with be 40% off from Monday, June 25 until Friday, June 29 with the code.

One Layer Card - Masking and Sponging

The Limited Supply Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers today had two requirements: one layer only and a summer theme!

I always enjoy making one layer cards using masking. It seems I usually gravitate to the beach because I love creating the sand, sea, and sky!

I started at the bottom of the card and worked my way up. Using 3 Step Sea Shells from Kitchen Sink Stamps, I stamped the large shell, masked it, and then stamped the sand dollar. Once the sand dollar was masked, I stamped the two starfish. Then the starfish masks were added and I sponged on the sand over a torn sheet of computer paper. I then stamped over the whole area with Itty Bitty Backgrounds by Stampin' Up.

After removing all those masks, I used my torn computer paper to work my way up adding Cool Caribbean sponging for the ocean. I repositioned the torn paper about four times to create the waves. Leaving it in place the final time, I used it as a mask to add the setting sun. After masking the sun, I then sponged on the sky and removed and discarded the masks.

The sentiment from PaperTrey Ink was added last with Versafine Vintage Sepia. Versafine is my absolute favorite ink for adding sentiments. I always get a clean, crisp, strong image!!
