Forever by Your Side - KSS - Let's Make a Scene 087

In honor of several of my friends who are currently buried knee-deep in snow, I have created another wintery Valentine. This Let's Make a Scene design sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps features the swans from Love Birds and this sweet, sweet sentiment from Love 4 Ducky & Teddy. It has been a while since I have stamped with the swans. I think this might be the last Let's Make a Scene design I made with a swan and it had an autumn theme.

Kitchen Sink Stamps Used:

Tree Friends Multi Step Clear Stamps

LMS - Swan Lake

It's 2nd Monday and time for another Let's Make a Scene card sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps. I am excitedly waiting to catch a whiff of autumn in the air here on the Texas Gulf Coast. It hasn't happened yet, but I am anxiously looking forward to fall's arrival as you can see in today's design.

Today's scene was created using Memento Dandelion, Peanut Brittle and Morocco for the autumn leaves of the Birch Trees Multi Step Clear Stamps. The trunks were stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa and Toffee Crunch. The lake is from Cabin by the Lake Multi Step Clear Stamps and stamped with Memento Summer Sky. The swan comes from the Love Birds Multi Step Clear Stamps set. Thinking of you is a part of Words of Love Clear Stamps. The die cut fence is from Impression Obsession.

Ruched Ribbon - KSS 10 Minute Card #79

Thanks so much for stopping by to check out this week's Kitchen Sink Stamps' 10 minute design. Before I jump into it, I wanted to let you know that next Monday, Kitchen Sink Stamps will be releasing 3 new stamp sets. Look for some sneak peeks to begin popping up toward the end of the week with the full reveal on Monday, July 9.

For this week's Kitchen Sink Stamps 10 minute card design, I had fun playing with ruched ribbon. I just slapped Scor Tape on the back of my grosgrain ribbon and bunched it up any which way across the card front. One great thing about using this method to attach ribbon is that it fits smoothly into an envelope and does not require extra postage! In the Kitchen Sink Gallery the keyword for this week's design is 10MC79.

KSS Tuesday Tip - Working with White Images

Some of you may not be aware that I host a weekly thread in the Kitchen Sink Forum called Tuesday Tips which gives specific tips on ways to use and be successful with multi layer stamps. So today I am posting this week's tutorial here on my blog as well so you can get an idea of the kinds of things you can learn there about layered stamping.

The focus this Tuesday is on working with images which are white. This can be tricky so I am going to share with you what I do. I am using as my example the swan from 3 Step Love Birds. This technique also works well with the lamb and the doves.

First I stamped layers 5, 4, 3,  and 2 on white card stock. For the swan I stamped layer 5 in Memento Tuxedo Black, layer 4 SU BasicGray stamped off once, 3 SU Sahara Sand stamped off once, 2 SU Sahara Sand stamped off twice.

Instead of stamping layer 1 on top of the other layers, I stamped and cut out a mask using layer one and placed it over the stamped swan. To get this "white" effect, I never stamp layer one on the swan.

This next step is what makes the white image really begin to pop. I placed another mask across the swan to create a horizon line and sponged SU Marina Mist ink for the water.

I then removed the horizon mask but left the swan mask so that I could sponge SU Baja Breeze for the sky.

At this point, the swan mask was removed to reveal the white swan. What do you think?

I then added some beautiful spring tulips in the forefront to create a shore line.

The swan panel was then used to create a card for Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge 316. I hope you like it!

This tutorial as well as one for stamping a white lamb will be in Tuesday Tips tomorrow in the Kitchen Sink Forum! The lamb I will be using to create my challenge card for the Tangled Up in Creativity Challenge - In like a lion, out like a lamb! It's coming, Dawn!!! I promise!

Endless Love

Here is my take on a design that has been making the rounds at SCS. I don't know the origin, but it sure is cute. I used my Scor-Pal to put tucks in the groom's shirt and a Cuttlebug embossing folder for the bride's gown.

He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not

The Crew at Kitchen Sink Stamps is excited today to have Connie who is currently Guest Designer present this week's challenge.

Connie's challenge is entitled "He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not" and requires that we use one of the fabulous floral sets from Kitchen Sink Stamps to create a Valentine. The twist is that no red or pink are allowed!

As you can see, I chose to use the 3 Step Pansy. I decided today to add a little dimension and texture to my blossom. I stamped the complete pansy twice. The first pansy I cut out the entire blossom. The second pansy, I cut out only from layer two up. I then distressed and inked the edges before layering them on top of each other.

The card front is 5 1/2 inches square.

Join us in today's challenge and link your card to our Paper Craft Planet group page! Be sure to include the tag KSCC#7. And while you're at it, link it to the What's Cook'n with Your Kitchen Sink Stamps Contest over at Kitchen Sink where prizes are to be had for the lucky winners!

Casing jaydekay

I was thrilled and delighted to see that jaydekay had been selected as Featured Stamper number 101 on Splitcooaststampers today. What an awesomely talented lady!! You can see her amazing gallery here. I have chosen to case her Valentine Cutie seen here.

I didn't have any of those sweet cuties that she used to create her sweet card, so I went more with Victorian romance.
