CCEE 1835 Spring Flowers

In Australia,  the home of Frances Byrne (our CCEE August hostess), Saturday is the first day of Spring .... Flowers are beautiful at any time of the year so for our challenge this week Frances has asked us to add some flowers to our cards.

One of the beautiful spring flowers that has come and gone already for the year in the USA is the daffodil. I have chosen to feature it on my card today.

The images I have used are from Spring Daffodils Multi Step Clear Stamps and Words 4 Celebrating Clear Stamps by Kitchen Sink Stamps.

I am headed off to see what flowers the rest of the CCEE Stampers have chosen to feature. Check for yourself below:

Day Dreaming in Texas - KSS

Today is the 4th Monday of August so there are no apologies needed for this Let's Make a Scene design sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps. Last Monday I jumped the gun a little early with this post, but it seems that sometimes I just have no will power and play like my right-brain has taken control of my senses although my left-brain is usually able to rein it in and take charge somewhere along in the process.

For today's post I have designed a 5 x 7 New Year's Day card using a great mix of Kitchen Sink Stamps winter images. With the temperatures in the triple digits in my part of Texas all this week, my thoughts turned to snow and ice!

Kitchen Sink Stamps Sets Used for this Design

To create this design, I started first by stamping the snowy cabin on the left. I wanted the chimney to look like Texas limestone, so I inked layers 3 and 2 of the cabin with two colors. One for the stones and one for the logs.

Recipe for the Snowy Cabin

Layer 3 - SU Tip Top Taupe on the stone chimney
SU Baked Brown Sugar on the logs

Layer 2 - Memento Desert Sand on the stone chimney
SU Creamy Caramel on the logs

Layer 1 - PTI Fine Linen for both the chimney and the logs

All of the ice on the roof and pond, as well as all the snow mounds on this card were created with varied intensities of Stampin' Up's new Balmy Blue. It is my current favorite blue!! After stamping the roof, the pond, and the snow mounds, I added the trees.

Recipe for the Snowy Pine Trees

Layer 3 - Memento Northern Pine
Layer 2 - SU Mossy Meadow
Layer 1 - SU Old Olive

The hockey players, the bare trees, and the sentiment were all stamped with Memento Espresso Truffle.

The only masking I did on this card for a torn strip of paper laid across the top of the card to create the horizon. I brushed on the sky using Distress Ink Peacock Feathers.

I wanted this card to look like you were driving in through a front fence so I popped up a panel of wood-grain designer paper mounted on heavy card stock on the right to serve as the foreground of the design. I then stamped and cut out the figure skates, added a top bow of white embroidery thread and popped up the the skates hanging them from a brad over the faux fence. I am pleased with the way it turned out!

Color Recipe for the Skates:

Layer 5 - Versafine Onyx Black
Layer 4 - Stampin' Up Gray Granite
Layer 3  - Stampin' Up Going Gray
Layer 2 - PTI Soft Stone

I am entering this card in Stamping Sensations's August Challenge - Use your "current" favourite stamp. The ice skates are "currently" holding that place. They are perfection!!

Kitchen Crew Members Maria and Jeanne have fabulous designs to share as well!!

Check them out!!

CCEE1834 - Ride the Wind Day

Thursday, August 23rd, is Ride the Wind Day. This day was created to celebrate the anniversary of the first man powered flight. There are so many things that rely on wind for them to work, so our CCEE hostess, Frances, has asked the CCEE Stampers to include something that needs wind on our cards today. Some examples include kite flying, windsurfing, Hang Gliding; Sailing Boats, Birds Flying, Hot Air Balloons, Balloons, Paper Planes etc.

Images are from:

Summer Home - KSS - Let's Make a Scene

I must apologize in advance! I know this is not the second or fourth Monday when I always post Let's Make a Scene designs sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps, but this card has been haunting me in my dreams, and I could not force myself to save it for next week! I love it too much!! It also fits perfectly in International Art & Soul's current challenge - #40 Marine, Ocean or Sea.

Even though I only spend a few days renting a condo on the beach each year, I always love every minute of it. This year the temperatures were in the freezing range when I was there in December, but I loved it just the same!

The places I have rented are always decked out to the nth degree in sea creatures and images of every nautical kind. I knew the Deep Sea Marlin Multi Step Clear Stamps would be a perfect fit for this seaside cabin.  I mounted the small marlin on a wood plank oval and make a Salty Kisses plaque out of the sentiment. Outside the window is a sailboat headed in to dock for the night.

I love making inside-the-house-looking-out scenes. You may remember this one I made for my daughter-in-law for Mother's Day and this one I made for a dog-loving friend's winter birthday.

The designer paper I used for wallpaper for today's nautical design is from Ahoy There by Alisha Gordon & Kasie Fry for Carta Bella.

Kitchen Sink Stamps Used for this Scene Include:

Baseball Multi Step Clear Stamps (wooden oval for the marlin)

Color Recipe for the Marlin

Layer 5 - Memento Danube Blue
Layer 4 - PTI Hawaiian Shores
Layer 3 - SU Going Gray on belly side only stamped 3 times
Layer 2 - SU Going Gray on belly side only
Layer 1 - PTI Soft Stone with SU Pineapple on the belly

The window die is by Poppy Stamps

Maria and Jeanne each have wonderful Kitchen Sink Stamps creations to share with you today. Don't miss a chance to see what delights they have designed.

CCEE1832 - World Lion Day

CCEE Hostess, Frances Byrne, says that August 10 is World Lion Day .... Lions are often referred to as the "King of the Jungle" so she has requested to see some jungle animals appearing on the cards of the CCEE Stampers this week … bonus points it's a lion.

No lions in my collection, but I have this great silhouette which is a part of Landscape Silhouettes by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. I have paired it with a sentiment from Vacation Thinlits by Sizzix. The flocked designer paper is from Anna Griffin Inc.

CCEE1831 - Coloring Book Day

August CCEE hostess, Frances Byrne, says that apparently today (2nd August) is Coloring Book Day. Coloring books are popular for both young and old. For the first CCEE challenge of August, Frances asks that we use an image on our cards that needs to be colored. She is handing out bonus points for anyone who actually uses a page from a real coloring book on their card.

Instead of a coloring book, I have used one of my uninked House-Mouse stamps called Basket Full of Dreams. The sentiment is from Baby Multi Step Clear Stamps by Kitchen Sink Stamps. The inside sentiment says, "They will be few and far between!"

I know the rest of the CCEE Stampers are much better colorers than I am.
Visit their blogs and check out their work.
