CCEE2036 - Masculine Cards

It's a brand new month, so it's time to introduce our new challenge hostess, talented Australian crafter Frances Byrne. Since Father's Day in Australia on the 1st Sunday in September, Francis has asked the CCEE Stampers to make a masculine card for this week's challenge …. Any occasion … any age, it's up to you.

I went with a masculine birthday design using images from Kitchen Sink Stamps. The sky was created using the Cloud Edger Stencil by A Colorful Life Designs.

Masculine cards can be a challenge for some stampers. Here are links to the masculine designs created by the CCEE Stampers Design Team.

Double Easel Ocean - Kitchen Sink Stamps

This first Kitchen Sink Stamps sponsored card is a simple and fun double easel design using images from the newly released Tropical Fish Multi Step Clear Stamps and the Giant Coral & Seahorse Multi Step Clear Stamps. It is easy to make and looks awesome standing up on a table or windowsill.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Stamping Sensations - July Challenge - All Creatures Great & Small

Creative Friday - Challenge #260 - Tropical

Cardz 4 Galz - Challenge #126 - Sea Shells

This first view of the card is what it looks like when it is closed and ready to insert in an A2 envelope.

This view is what it looks like standing on any flat surface.

The stamped images were all stamped with Stampin' Up Inks and fussy cut before they were attached to the card. The color recipes posted below were the colors I used on this design.

The background was created with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink brushed over the Pinwheel Scroll stencil from A Colorful Life Designs and then splattered over with more blue oxide inks.

The sea grass, starfish, and sand dollar are Cuttlebug die cuts.

The sentiment was stamped with SU Brilliant Blue.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. I am a true believer in this idea since I am a very visual learner. The pictures below should make it very easy to understand the construction of this card.

The basic construction takes two pieces of paper.

The white cardfront is 4.25 inches  x 11 inches scored at 5.5 into a standard A2 card.
The blue panel is 4 inches x 8.25 inches scored at 1.5 inches and 3 inches.

Here I have folded the panels on the score lines.

Here I have glued the large portion of the blue panel to the cardfront. See how easy that was!

I am including a second card which I made yesterday and really love so I wanted you to see it. It is a masculine get well design using images from Tree Friends Multi Step Clear Stamps and Tiny Norway Pine which was a limited edition and no longer available.

The clouds and bushes were created with the Cloud Edger stencil also from A Colorful Life Designs.

Telescoping Autumn Card - KSS

When I checked out the challenges at Splitcoaststampers this morning, one of them caught my eye as a design I had seen before but never tried. So today's post sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps is a telescoping autumn card I created for Technique Challenge 710 at SCS. I needed the help of the Telescoping Card Tutorial by Beate Johns found here to work out the details of just how this goes together.

The most difficult part was the placement of the brads so that none of the stamping on the bottom two panels showed when the card was closed.

This card fits perfectly in a 5 x 5 square envelope.

LMS073- Under the Dogwood Tree - KSS

The fourth Monday of June brings with it the chance for me to create another scene for you using some of Kitchen Sink Stamps' newest released images: Enchanted Dogwood Multi Step Clear Stamps and Words 4 Celebrating Clear Stamps. I have mixed with them images from Tree Friends Multi Step Clear Stamps, grass from Honey Bunny Multi Step Clear Stamps, and a word die cut from Hero Arts.

I am entering this card in the Stamping Sensations' June Challenge - Anything Goes as long as stamping is the center point of attention and interest. I sure hope the stamping catches your attention!

I stamped this scene with the large branch of dogwood blossoms across the top in the foreground to create the depth and distance back to the dogwood tree and bench. I have done this before as in the card seen here where I put the large flowers at the bottom forefront for the same reason. The front dogwood on this card was fussy cut and popped up on dimensionals.

Color Recipe for Today's Dogwood Blossoms

Layer 3 SU Real Rose on the petals and SU Certainly Celery in the center
Layer 4 PTI Hisbiscus Burts on the petals and SU Certainly Celery in the center
Layer 2 SU Powder Pink
Layer 1 Memento Angel Pink
Layer 5 SU Lucky Limeade

Color Recipe for the Leaves

Layer 1 SU Certainly Celery
Layer 2 SU Certainly Celery
Layer 3 SU Old Olive

Color Recipe for the Bricks

Layer 2 SU Granite Gray

Welcome Home Cowboy - KSS Let's Make a Scene

Today's Let's Make a Scene design sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps was made with a friend in mind who will soon be returning to his county home after an extended hospital stay followed by several weeks in rehabilitation. Being a down-home Texas boy, I think he will love it. Although the bluebonnets are quickly fading away for this year, I wanted to include them in his welcome home card. I created them with the tip of a stylus using Distress Oxide Ink and white paint.

To create this scene, I used images from the following Kitchen Sink Stamps Sets:

Cabin by the Lake Multi Step Clear Stamps
Trees Multi Step Clear Stamps
Tree Friends Multi Step Clear Stamps
and assorted sentiments

Color Recipe for the Cabin

Layer 4 Stampin' Up Chocolate Chip
Layer 3 Stampin' Up Baked Brown Sugar
Layer 2 Stampin' Up Creamy Caramel
Layer 1 Memento Desert Sand

Warm Birthday Wishes Just For You - KSS

The fourth Monday of January brings me the opportunity to share with you another Let's Make a Scene design sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps. For this birthday design, I wanted to contrast the warmth of a winter cabin with the frigid yet fun cold of the snowy outdoors.

I have included images from Kitchen Sink Stamps' Kittens & Pup Multi Step Clear Stamps, Tree Friends Multi Step Clear Stamps, and Snowy Cabin Multi Step Clear Stamps along with single words pulled together from lots of KSS sentiments.

This birthday card is going to one of my dog loving friends! I know she will like it!! Hope you do, too!!

The window die is from Poppy Stamps.
