Come Rain or Snow - KSS

Normally by this time in November I have all my Christmas cards made, addressed, and ready to drop at the Post Office on the day after Thanksgiving. Sadly, that has not been the case this year. I am really going to have to kick it up a notch to have Christmas cards ready for all my friends and family. So from now until Christmas, you may think this is a Christmas ONLY blog, and it just may be!!

For today's Kitchen Sink Stamps sponsored design I have created this snowy night scene using images from the following KSS sets:

Tiny Norway Pine Multi Step Clear Stamps
(this set is no longer available but Minnesota Norway Pine Tree is)

These are the steps I followed to create the night sky:
   1. Punch a circle and attach it to the white 6 1/2 inch x 4 1/2 inch panel.
   2. Brush the top 3/4 of the panel with Distress Oxide Chipped Sapphire.
   3. Brush in a little Distress Oxide Black Soot.
   4. Flick on tiny droplets of water and dry with a heat gun.
   5. Before adding the snow, I stamped the 3 Norway Pines.
   6. Water down some white acrylic paint and flick on the falling snow.
   7. Remove the moon mask and stamp Santa.

To complete the card, I used watered down Chipped Sapphire to paint the tree shadows and tore an addition snowbank on which to stamp the sentiment. I edged the top of the snow banks with some clear Stickles and called the card done.

Should you need it, here is the Color Recipe for the Norway Pines:

Layer 3 Memento Espresso Truffle
Layer 2 PTI Ocean Tides
Layer 1 Stampin' Up Old Olive

Santa and the Sentiment were stamped with Versafine Onyx Black

SCS TLC720 - Assembly Line Stamping with Kitchen Sink Stamps

A busy and eventful weekend kept me from getting my Kitchen Sink Stamps Let's Make a Scene design ready for posting last night, and as luck would have it, I am glad it did.

I decided to check on the Splitcoaststampers Technique Challenge this morning and see if I could use it for today's card. The challenge is Assembly Line Stamping. Nothing could be more perfect for me today because I have mailed out all my Christmas cards and have started receiving some from new people who were not on last year's Christmas card list. I need a bunch in a hurry!

Although I am a pretty fast stamper, it usually takes me about 45 minutes to create a Let's Make a Scene design. Using the Assembly Line Method, I was able to stamp 5 cards in an hour which is just how many I want to send out today!! Win-win!!

I am entering this card in the following challenge this week:

Splitcoaststampers Technique Challenge 720

Cards of Envy (flat cards only) The Spirit of Christmas

Incy Wincy Designs: Create Your Own Background

Kitchen Sink Stamps images used came from the following sets:

Color Recipes

Pine Trees
Layer 3 Stampin' Up Forest Foliage
Layer 2 PTI  Ocean Tides
Layer 1 Stampin' Up Granny Apple Green

Log Cabin
Layer 3 Stampin' Up Soft Suede on the logs and Creamy Caramel on the stones
Layer 2 Stampin' Up Baked Brown Sugar
Layer 1 PTI Fine Linen

Cabin Roof
Memento Summer Sky all layers

Moon
Layer 3 Stampin' Up Pineapple Punch
Layer 2 Stampin' Up Barely Banana
I did not stamp layer one but make a mask of it to brush on the sky.

I used the following Distress Oxide Inks by Tim Holtz for the sky:

Squeezed Lemonade
Blueprint Sketch
Black Soot

The door wreath is Distress Oxide Lucky Clover
The berries on the wreath are Distress Oxide Candied Apple
The smoke from the chimney is Distress Oxide Hickory Smoke and Black Soot.
The snow line was inked with Distress Oxide Tumbled Glass.

Santa and his reindeer as well as the sentiment were stamped
with Versafine Onyx Black.

Here are a few pictures of the process. I hope they are helpful.

I stamped the moon and trees first.

I then masked the moon and brushed on the sky. That was followed by stamping the stars, Santa, and sentiment.

Lastly I stamped the log cabins on separate panels and cut them out to mount on the cards.

10 + 10 Butterflies

For today's 10 Minutes + 10 Minutes More designs, I have pulled my Butterflies Multi Step Clear Stamps out of my KSS tubs. I also used Simple Sentiments on each of the cards.

The color recipe for both butterflies includes Memento Tuxedo Black on layer 3, Memento Teal Zeal on layer 2, and Memento New Sprout on layer 1. The papers used for these cards are Stampin' Up Whisper White, Bermuda Bay, and Basic Black.

10 Minute Card

10 Minutes + 10 Minutes More

With my extra 10 minutes, I masked the butterfly and stamped layer one of the fern from Big Leaves Multi Step Clear Stamps around the butterfly. I then added Black Diamond Stickles to the black layer of the butterfly. After sponging SU Bermuda Bay ink around the edges of the card, I stamped some splotches from Friends of the Moon Clear Stamps. Finally I punched out the sentiment with a circle punch and added a black mat before trimming it flush with the edge of the card.
