CCEE1507 - Month of the Pearl

This month's CCEE Challenge hostess, Sabrina, shared with us that the Finnish for February is “helmiku”, which means “month of the pearl”. Snow melting on twigs and refreezing as drops has a pearl-like look.

For this week's challenge, we could take it easy and just use pearls/Liquid Pearls on our card, or we could be adventurous and try out some pearl techniques; pull out that old Pearl-Ex or Perfect Pearls!!

For my card, I embossed the butterfly with black embossing powder and then painted it with Pearl-Ex mixed the Future Floor Finish.

Queen for a Day - CCEE1506

A new month brings a new hostess to the CCEE Stampers. For February our challenges will be coming from Sabrina all the way from Ireland. Welcome, Sabrina, and thanks for this fun challenge.

February 6th 1952 was the day Queen Elizabeth ascended to the throne. So Sabrina has asked us to create a card featuring crowns or “royal” images. -She says that playing cards could work well for this challenge so I reached for my Graphic 45 All Decked Out paper to use as the focus of my design.

Stamps: Ready 4 Any Holiday by Kitchen Sink Stamps
Papers: Graphic 45 All Decked Out, Recollections Black, SU Real Red
Inks: Memento Lady Bug
Tools: Heart Nestabilities
Embellishments: Crocheted Lace, Jewels, Paper Roses, Red Heart Sticker

Today's Valentines focus on romance using roses and rose buds from Kitchen Sink Stamps'

The 10 minute card is a one layer design which I created for Splitcoaststampers CAS310. Their theme this week was love.

Bleached Out Images - CCEE1505

For Vicky's final week as hostess of the CCEE Stampers Challenge, she has asked us to use the Bleached Out Image technique. I wasn't quite sure what that entailed so I headed over to the SCS tutorial she shared with us.

Here is what I came up with! The bleached image is from an old set (2003) called Sketches by Stampin' Up. The sentiment is from Our Daily Bread Designs.

After bleaching the image, I colored it with Copic markers.

Check out the bleached creations from the rest of the CCEE Designers! Beautiful stuff!!

I had lots of fun with this challenge! If you choose to give this a try, be sure to share your results with us on the CCEE Stampers Blog. We love it when you play along!

I love working with silhouettes so this challenge is right up my alley. I have used a stamp set called The Sea by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. I never tire of working with this beautiful set!

CCEE1503 - Stamp Etching

Vicky has asked us to try our hand at stamp etching with today's CCEE Stampers Challenge. If you have never tried it, Lydia Fiedler of Splitcoaststampers created a wonderful tutorial that teaches you every thing you need to know to give it a try. I have chosen to use it on this bird stamp by Martha Stewart.

I don't think I have quite gotten the hang of it on my first attempt, but I had fun trying!

CCEE1502 - With Sympathy

For the CCEE Stampers' second challenge of the new year, Vicky has requested that we create sympathy cards. I probably take more time and care creating sympathy cards than any other type of card. The emotion of the card needs to transcend the image and the words making it a very delicate balance to get it just right.

I hope you take the time to play along with CCEE1502 and share you creation on the CCEE Stampers' Blog.

Stamps: Serene Silhouettes by Stampin' Up, Bridge of Hope by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps
Papers: Recollections White and Black

The rest of the CCEE Stampers' Design Team
have created some gorgeous sympathy designs.

Please take the time and see for yourself. I hope they inspire you to join us in this challenge. I would love to be inspired by your creations.
