Back before I retired from the classroom, late August was always the most exciting time of the school year. Everyone was anxious to learn who their teachers would be and how many of their friends would be in their classes. Every child entered the classroom on the first day decked out in their favorite new clothes and staggering under the weight of all their new school supplies.
I have been retired for 10 years now, and I still miss the crazy, busy excitement of that first day of school, but tomorrow morning I will get to experience that excitement in a new way. I will be delivering my oldest granddaughter to college and helping her move into her dorm. We are starting out in the wee hours of the morning so we will have plenty of time to settle in after our 3 hour drive.

I love this! I so agree with the sentiment. One time when we moved I made the brave effort to get rid of some books - but I ended up buying more than a few of them again when I wanted to re-read them. That edge punch is just delightful.
ReplyDeleteSafe driving - and have a great day together with your granddaughter.
What a great sentiment, always strange for me hearing kids are starting school in August instead of January like their do down under :)
