Angels Landing Gratitude Journal

Today I got the opportunity to create for Angels Landing something that I have been wanting for a while but had never taken the time to make for myself. When Judi suggested a Gratitude Journal might be a good project for this week, I thought, "Yes! Now I'll finally get to have one of my own!" Thanks, Judi!!

I titled my journal Counting God's Blessings! I don't think it will take me long to fill it. I may be needing another one very soon!!

The covers of my Gratitude Journal were created using two pieces of 4.5 inch x 6.5 inch turquoise textured chipboard from DCWV . I attached a strip of designer paper by the Paper Studio and used my Kombo ibico binder to punch the holes and add the plastic comb.

The sentiment was computer generated on white Georgia Pacific card stock using the Dauphin font and cut out with my Nestabilities Labels 3. I sponged the embossed center with So Saffron and the edge with Tempting Turquoise.

The sculpted spray of flowers and leaves was created using digital images from Simply Flowers by Angels Landing printed on white Georgia Pacific card stock. They were watercolored with Stampin' Up reinkers, scored on the back, folded, and attached using layered dimensionals. Microbeads were added to the centers of the flowers, and ribbons tied through the holes in the binding.

Digital Images: Simply Flowers by Angels Landing

Papers: White Georgia Pacific, Pink Passion by Stampin' Up, Floral Designer Paper by the Paper Studio

Inks: So Saffron and Tempting Turquoise by Stampin' Up

Reinkers: Baja Breeze, So Saffron, Pink Passion, Regal Rose, Green Gable, and Groovy Guava by Stampin' Up

Chipboard: Turquoise Textured Chipboard by DCWV

Embellishments: Ribbon, Microbeads, and Dimensionals

Tools: Kombo ibico binder, Nestabilities 3 die cut

Flourishes' Timeless Tuesday Challenge #30

I'm thrilled that my sister Liz has been chosen as the Guest Challenge Host this week for Flourishes' Timeless Tuesday Challenge. You can read her description of the challenge as well as view her gorgeous sample on her blog Right Brain Madness ( Yes, this is one of the ways we are opposite. Right brain- left brain!).

You can also read about the challenge and see the entries in the Flourishes Newsletter.

The short version is use something with pearls or a pearl finish. I created my card using Flourishes' Coffee with Friends and Pearl-Ex.

I stamped the mugs with Versafine Onyx Black and then created a reverse mask so that I could coat them with Versamark. Leaving the mask in place I rubbed copper Pearl-Ex over the surface of the mugs. I then removed the mask and restamped the mugs with Versafine Onyx Black one last time.

Stamps: Coffee with Friends by Flourishes

Inks: Versafine Onyx Black, Versamark

Papers: Whisper White and Basic Black by Stampin' Up, sugared by BasicGrey

Cats Rule Bookmark

Well, we all knew it was coming, but never realized it would arrive so soon! Those lazy days of summer have gone, and it's time once again to hit the school books! So what could be more purr-fect (and fun) to add to your kids' pile of school supplies than an adorable kitty cat bookmark?

To create this bookmark I used one of the whimsical digital kitties from Cats and Kittens, the recent release from Angels Landing. She was printed on white Georgia Pacific card stock, colored with Prismacolor Pencils blended with odorless mineral spirits, and cut out.

The row of cat tracks printed on the bookmark is from Cat Paw Prints also from Angels Landing. The sentiment was computer generated. I used scraps of colored cardstock to create the Cats Rule book.

All the white edges were sponged with Perfect Plum ink from Stampin' Up. The white bookmark was double matted, first on Kiwi Kiss and then on Orchid Opulence by Stampin' Up. After gluing all the layers together, I slipped the bookmark into a plastic sleeve. To finish it off, I punched a hole with my Crop-o-dile and tied on some pretty ribbons!

Please stop by Judi's Blog to see the Angels Landing creations posted today by other members of the design team!!

Kitchen Sink Monday

I love these gorgeous Kitchen Sink lilies! I decided today that I wanted to create a frame for my sentiment tag by making a wreath of lilies.

In order to do that I needed to create two masks for the lilies and two masks for the leaves. After tracing an oval in the center of my white card front, I started stamping lilies and leaves at the top and worked my way around the penciled oval overlapping them as I went until I was back where I started. I moved the masks from lily to lily as I went.

This is the color formula I used for my lilies:
Layer 1 - Pink Pirouette
Layer 2 - Pretty in Pink
Layer 3 - Pixie Pink
Layer 4 - Purely Pomegranate
Layer 5 - Bravo Burgundy

This is the color formula I used for my leaves:
Layer 1 - Old Olive stamped off once
Layer 2 - Old Olive
Layer 3 - Wild Wasabi

I popped up the sentiment tag on 1/8 inch dimensionals and ran the ribbon under it to tie the bow.

Stamps: Lilies Multi Step Clear Stamps, and Words of Comfort & Joy Clear Stamps
by Kitchen Sink Stamps

Papers: White by PaperTrey Ink, Pink Pirouette and Rose Red by Stampin' Up

Inks: Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink, Pixie Pink, Purely Pomegranate, Old Olive, and Wild Wasabi by Stampin' Up

Tools: Oval Nestabilities, Sponge

Blog Hop - Angels Landing August Release

Welcome, friends, to today's Blog Hop celebrating the release of two new digital sets from Angels Landing!! This is not the first stop on the hop, so head back to Judi's Blog (if you haven't been there already) to start at the beginning!! At two stops along the way, there will be some blog candy up for grabs, and no one wants to miss out on that!!

My birthday card was created with one digital image from each of the new August release sets. The cat is from Cats and Kittens while the tag is from Cat Paw Prints and both of these delightful sets are being released today.

I decided to perch this sweet cat on a big fluffy, fringed pillow. The white tile floor was created with my Scor-Pal as were the pleated drapes.

This cat was watercolored with Watercolor Wonder Crayons by Stampin' Up. The shadowing of the cat was done with Pink Pirouette using a sponge. The tiny hearts were also stamped on the "wallpaper" using Pink Pirouette.

The tag was layered with More Mustard and attached with gold cording.

The tag, pillow, and cat are all popped up on dimensionals.

Digital Images: Cat from Cats and Kittens, Tag from Cat Paw Prints - Angels Landing

Stamps: Tiny Heart from Small Sayings by Stampin' Up

Kitchen Sink Monday - Linen Birthday Album

While doing a little closet cleaning last week, I happened upon my stash of linen covered address books which I had purchased for next to nothing at a Hallmark store that was closing about 10 years ago. They have been sitting on a shelf taking up space and collecting dust all this time!

I started thinking about some interesting way to use them. I decided that I would like to have a book where I could keep birthdays of my family members along with sizes, favorite colors, their music preferences, etc., etc.

Next, I got out my favorite Kitchen Sink flowers and figured if I used my craft inks, I would be able to stamp directly on the linen. Sure enough, it worked beautifully, don't you think?

Congratulations, sleepyinseattle!!! SCS FS131

I was so excited to learn that Joanne, aka sleepyinseattle, had been chosen at today's Featured Stamper at Splitcoaststampers!! What a talented stamper she is!! It was difficult narrowing down the possible field of cards to case because they are all fabulous as you can see when you look through her gallery.

I finally settled on her New In Colors! What an adorable way to showcase the new Stampin' Up colors. I decided these precious 3 x 3 cards would be a great way to clear out some of the Old In Colors as well.

I pulled together a hodge podge of stamps from various sets to create these little cards. I didn't have matching ribbon for all my colors like Joanne did so I added black as my accent color, and I was good to go!!

Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes, Thoughts & Prayers, So Many Sayings by Stampin' Up, Butterfly by Inkadinkado

Name Badge Mini Photo Album

I had so much fun creating this tiny pocket album for Angels Landing to share with you today. It was made using 4 name badge holders and a few bits of ribbon. With everyone in my family involved with music in one form or another, I naturally gravitated to this sweet digital image from Angels Landing's Marching Band 1. I plan to make these for my "girls" to share with their Band Buddy friends.

The album is quick, easy, and inexpensive! It will hold six photos and measures just 2.5 inches by 3.5 inches so it will fit easily into purses or backpacks!

I printed the bunny, musical notes, and album title on white Georgia Pacific card stock. The bunny was colored with Prismacolor pencils and odorless mineral spirits. The French horn was colored with an 18 karat gold paint pen. I masked the rabbit and horn before splattering with red ink. The ribbon was tied through the holes in name badge.

Digital Images: Marching Band 1 from Angel's Landing

Papers: White Georgia Pacific card stock, Real Red by Stampin' Up

Inks: Real Red by Stampin' Up

Tools: Prismacolor Pencils, Odorless Mineral Spirits, 18 Karat Gold Paint Pen

Materials: 4 Clear Vinyl Name Badge Holders, Ribbon

If you head over to Judi's Blog, you can see the other projects which Angels Landing designers have prepared for you today!! Amazing work!! Don't miss it!!!

Emilia's Challenge - Pretty Corners

Today we are welcoming Emilia to the Kitchen Sink as Guest Designer. Emilia has planned a fabulous challenge for us to use with our Kitchen Sink Stamps. You can read all about it and see her beautiful sample on her blog Emilia's Italian Inspirations.

This challenge is all about corners!! To join in and play all you need to do is dust off your Kitchen Sink Stamps and design a card on which you have embellished the corners! Use brads, use photo corners, use punches, use die cuts, use anything you can think of to dress up those corners!!

There will be three lucky winners chosen by a random number generator from those who enter using Kitchen Sink Stamps and decorative corners!! You can be one of them!! Visit the Kitchen Sink Weblog and use Mr. Linky to upload your entry!

First Prize - the large Kitchen Sink Stamp set of your choice
Second Prize - the small Kitchen Sink Stamp set of your choice
Third Prize - a full size pad of Opalite Ink - color is winner's choice

I have returned today to one of my favorite sets from the July release stamps - Letters from the Past. The sentiment comes partly (With loving thoughts) from Words of Comfort & Joy and partly (of you) from Words of Love.

I created the letter by stamping the pen first and then masking it to stamp on the script. The edge was then sponged with Close to Cocoa. For the envelope, the stamp was added with Bravo Burgundy stamped off once on the first layer and full strength on the second layer. I then stamped the post mark over it with Versafine Onyx Black and sponged the edges with Close to Cocoa.

The sentiment was embossed in gold and the corners were cut with a Cuttlebug die cut from gold metallic paper.

I then pulled the gold ribbon through the die cut corners at the bottom and tied it with a bow before attaching it to the card front.

Stamps: Letters from the Past Multi Step Clear Stamps, Words of Comfort & Joy Clear Stamps,  and Words of Love Clear Stamps by Kitchen Sink Stamps

Papers: Bravo Burgundy by Stampin' Up, Vintage Creme by PaperTrey Ink, Metallic Gold

Inks: Close to Cocoa and Bravo Burgundy by Stampin' Up, Versafine Onyx Black, Versamark, ColorBox Metallic Gold

Tools: Cuttlebug, Heat Gun, Sponge
