Fun in the Summer Sun - Angels Landing

Well, things have certainly started to sizzle here in Texas so I hope you are ready for a little Fun in the Summer Sun! I had a lot of fun creating this card to share with you today using digital images from Angels Landing's Mini Bears & Birds created by Judi Maddigan.

I started with a Soft Sky card front and added a tree trunk cut from Chocolate Chip card stock. I next added a Wild Wasabi panel on the lower half of the card. I used my scissors to fringe the top of the Wasabi and then sponged the edges with more ink to create the grass. The leafy parts of the tree were punched using Stampin' Up's scalloped punch and also sponged with more green.

The blanket spread on the grass was made using a scrap of BasisGrey die cut with my Cuttlebug. Then I was ready to add these precious characters. The teddy bear and bird were printed on US White. I colored them with Prismacolor pencils and odorless mineral spirits. They were then cut out and mounted on the BG blanket.

I made the sun glasses using a circle punch. Looks like teddy is hoping to get them back from this sweet little bird, don't you think?

I drew a few stems at the bottom of the card and added some Prima flowers with rhinestone centers to complete the look. I cut a green Prima into pieces to add as leaves.

Last of all I added the computer generated sentiment cut with oval and Designer Label punches.

All of the Angels Landing designers have created projects to share with you today. Head over to the Angels Landing Blog where Judi has them all posted for you to see. Also stop by the Angels Landing Home Page to check out all the fabulous available images!! They are so inexpensive and easy to work with!!

  1. Lynn, this is such an adorable card! You captured the essence of a teddy bear's picnic using all of the elements of nature (trees, flowers, and grass). I love the added detail of the little birdie perching on the sunglasses - nice touch! You also did a wonderful job coloring the images!
