Making Time for a Couple of Challenges!

I haven't had much time for challenges of late so I created today's Kitchen Sink Stamps sponsored designs to join in the Monday challenge fun over at Splitcoaststampers.

This first card uses Dina Kowal's Layered Retiform Tutorial to make this design for Technique Lovers Challenge 891.  The images are from Remembrance Poppy, Poppy Bouquet, and Watercolor Thanks. The retiform background was created using painter's tape, watered down reinkers, and watercolor paper. The poppies, stems, and leaves were cut with KSS SVG cut files.

This second card was created for Clean and Simple Challenge 682 - Yellow.
You can't get much more yellow than the KSS rubber duck from Just Ducky!

St. Patrick's Day - CCEE2210

Today is St Patrick’s Day. Frances asked the CCEE Stampers to create a card that features either leprechauns or gnomes. I couldn't find either in my stash so I went with a teddy bear with a leprechaun hat!

You can find the cards by the CCEE Design Team on the CCEE Blog and join in the challenge!!

Let There Be Spring! - Kitchen Sink Stamps

This week's Kitchen Sink Stamps sponsored design was inspired by the latest cold front that just blew through our parts of Texas!! It almost never freezes in Texas in March, and yet here it is ice cold again!

We are all looking forward to the warmer days of spring with all their colorful flowers and gentle temperatures. It will arrive soon and pass all too quickly!

This card uses images from  Spring Daffodils, Clay Pots, Bold 4 Seasons Greetings, and Honey Bunny.

Our CCEE hostess, Frances is back this week with another challenge for the CCEE Stampers.

Metallic Prayers - Kitchen Sink Stamps

This Monday's Kitchen Sink Stamp sponsored design was inspired by the remarkable and beautiful cards Maria has been posting all week in support of Ukraine. If you haven't seen them, please go and check them out here. I know they will touch your heart as they have mine.

The Clean and Simple Challenge at Splitcoaststampers this morning was to add a metallic element to your design. I used images from Sunflowers, Lilacs (stem), and Watercolor Prayers to create this card for that challenge. I chose to cut the word prayers from gold cardstock as my metallic element using the KSS SVG cut file for that set.

Please join me in praying for the men, women, and children of Ukraine, that peace may return to their nation.

CCEE2208 - 5 x 7 Cards

It's a brand new month, which means we have a brand new challenge hostess. March's CCEE Challenge hostess is the talented Frances Byrne.

Frances tells us that just like Slimline & Mini Slimline cards, the 5 x 7 inch card size is becoming more and more popular. For this week’s challenge she has asked the CCEE Stampers to create a 5 x 7 inch card.

The 5 x 7 card is my size of choice these days, so I was delighted to share one in this week's challenge. My card was inspired by the Elvis Presley movie, Blue Hawaii and its hit song, "I Can't Help Falling in Love with You."

These are the awesome 5 x 7 cards created by the CCEE Team:

Birthday Cake and Gifts - Side Step Card - KSS

I am continuing to have fun with Candle Wishes recently released by KSS. For today's Kitchen Sink Stamps sponsored design I have created a colorful side step birthday card for a 13 year old friend. I wanted it to look like a tied cake and used BasicGray designer paper which features lots of gift! Things that any new teenager would love! The birthday sentiment is from Make a Big Statement.

I used this wonderful tutorial created by Beate Johns for Splitcoaststampers for the cutting and scoring measurements to cut and fold this design.

Embellishments include red Stickles icing to place the candles on the cake and a red cord bow. Here's hoping this card brightens this sweet teen's birthday.

New for February from Kitchen Sink Stamps

The Kitchen is heating up today with 2 new stamps sets, as well as new digi files for KSS fans! Today's Kitchen Sink Stamps sponsored designs feature a card with each of these awesome new sets!

First up is Candle Wishes which is an wonderful small set with a three step candle and flame perfect for any celebration! The set also comes with a wealth of sensational sentiments to be used for a variety of occasions!

I used Candle Wishes to create a 93rd birthday card for my mother who just celebrated this wonderful event this past week. She is thrilled to catch up with my dad who had his 93rd birthday in January! The candles were cut with the corresponding SVG cut file before they were stamped. I then added the SVG layering cut behind the candles. The Happy Birthday Sentiment is a part of Words 4 Celebrating.

The background was created with Ranger Distress Oxide Inks in spun sugar, kitsch flamingo, picked raspberry, and wilted violet splattered with gold acrylic paint and water.

The 93 was cut using Cricut Design Space, and I used the KSS SVG cut stencil Sun Spots.

Also releasing today is Just Ducky! What a fun set also with a delightful mix of sentiments! For this card I have mixed it with Bubbles All Around to create a card to welcome a new baby. I stenciled the waves using SVG Cut Waves & Splashes.

The new digi files include:

SVG Slimline Layered Stencil
