KSS - Mother's Day - 2018

I had a lot of fun creating this Kitchen Sink Stamps sponsored Mother's Day card for today. I repurposed  a couple of KSS images to turn them into objects I needed to create this feminine dresser- top still life.

I used part of the watch fob from Father's Pocket Watch Multi Step Clear Stamps to create a chain for a necklace. Then I went in search of a loop to create a closure for the necklace. I found it in one of the rings from Wedding Rings Multi Step Clear Stamps. The rosebuds are, of course, from Heart & Roses Multi Step Clear Stamps.  The brooch is from Mother's Cameo Multi Step Clear Stamps. The sentiment is a part of Whole Family Clear Stamps.

After masking the brooch, I added the two rosebuds. I think my mother will like it!

Poem in Your Pocket Day

April is National Poetry Month, and today is Poem in Your Pocket Day.  For our final April challenge, hostess Lois Bak has asked that the CCEE Stampers create a card using a poem as our inspiration.

I chose a poem that I memorized and had to recite in grade school. I can still recite it word for word and its message is just as timely today as it was 100 years ago.

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place, and in the sky,
The larks, still bravely singing, fly,
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead; short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe!
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high!
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

To create this card I used Painted Poppy Dies and Stamps by Altenew, a cross embossing folder by Darice, and a bird stamp from Tim Holtz.

Welcome Home Cowboy - KSS Let's Make a Scene

Today's Let's Make a Scene design sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps was made with a friend in mind who will soon be returning to his county home after an extended hospital stay followed by several weeks in rehabilitation. Being a down-home Texas boy, I think he will love it. Although the bluebonnets are quickly fading away for this year, I wanted to include them in his welcome home card. I created them with the tip of a stylus using Distress Oxide Ink and white paint.

To create this scene, I used images from the following Kitchen Sink Stamps Sets:

Cabin by the Lake Multi Step Clear Stamps
Trees Multi Step Clear Stamps
Tree Friends Multi Step Clear Stamps
and assorted sentiments

Color Recipe for the Cabin

Layer 4 Stampin' Up Chocolate Chip
Layer 3 Stampin' Up Baked Brown Sugar
Layer 2 Stampin' Up Creamy Caramel
Layer 1 Memento Desert Sand

National Bicycle Day - CCEE1816

CCEE Stampers' April hostess, Lois Bak,  informs us that today is National Bicycle Day, so she's asking us to put a bicycle on our cards.

I have created an Impossible Card using die cuts from Spellbinders and Gina Marie Designs as well as a sentiment from The Unity Company. The flowers were created with a McGill punch. The Impossible Card folds flat for mailing and then the center section stands upright when the card is opened.

The links below will allow you to see how the CCEE DT used bicycles in their posts today!

SCS TLC with KSS

The technique challenge at Splitcoaststampers really peaked my interest today. It is called "It's a BANNER Day!" and required that participants include a hand-drawn banner on their design. I thought the long-stemmed roses from Kitchen Sink Stamps' Heart & Roses Multi Step Clear Stamps would look sensational  wrapped in the banner. And what could be more beautiful for a precious new baby girl than these delicate pink rosebuds?
The sentiment comes from Kitchen Sink Stamps' Baby Multi Step Clear Stamps

Color Recipe for Stem and Leaves

Layer 1 Stampin' Up Lucky Limeade
Layer 2 Stampin' Up Lucky Limeade
Layer 3 Stampin' Up Mossy Meadow

Color Recipe for the Rosebuds

Layer 4 Stampin' Up Regal Rose stamped twice
Layer 3  Lovely Lady by PaperTrey Ink stamped twice
Layer 2 Stampin' Up Pretty in Pink stamped twice
Layer 1 Memento Angel Pink stamped twice

National Pet Day - CCEE1815

Hostess Lois Bak has informed the CCEE Stampers that April 11 is National Pet Day. She has asked the team to use a pet (dog, cat, bird, whatever) on our cards.

Sadly, I am currently petless, but am thinking about adding a couple of cats to my household. I hear they can do a pretty good job of taking care of themselves!

I created today's card using Tabby Cat by Gina Marie Designs.

I wonder what kind of pets the rest of the crew has featured today?
Check it out!

Play Ball!! - KSS

The return of spring means the return of baseball to our local parks! I am a huge baseball fan from way back so I will be spending some of my afternoons at the ballpark, popcorn in hand, cheering on our UHV Jaguars!

For today's Let's Make a Scene design sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps, I have created a baseball themed birthday card! The images are from Baseball Multi Step Clear Stamps, Classic Old Truck Multi Step Clear Stamps, and Birch Trees Multi Step Clear Stamps. The die cut fence is by Spellbinders.

CCEE1814 - National Tartan Day

Friday is National Tartan Day.  Lois, our April hostess for the CCEE Stamper challenges, has asked the team members to create a card using plaid.

The red and black of my chosen plaid screamed masculine to me so I have created a thank you card with a distinctive masculine feel. The typewriter image is from We R Memory Keepers. The plaid paper is BasicGrey.

Check out all the fun plaids on the CCEE Stampers DT cards:
