Wonderful Sister - Kitchen Sink Stamps

Today's Kitchen Sink Stamps sponsored design is a card I have created for my sweet, sweet sister. She is my faithful partner in providing care for our aging parents. Without her help, I could not do the do all the things that must be done! What a blessing she is to our lives!! Thank you, Liz!! 

I again have created a 5 x 7 design using All Aflutter and added a beautiful sentiment from Whole Family. I wanted something beautiful and delicate so I created this framed vellum shadow box by layering 4 stitched die cut rectangles  and adding the vellum between the top two layers. The SVG cut flowers and butterfly were glued to the back of the bottom frame. I love how it turned out and think this will also make a stunning sympathy card. I will be making several of these for my sympathy stash.

Although All Aflutter is sold out, you can create this design with Butterflies and many of the other KSS flowers and sentiments.

Mother's Day Butterflies - Kitchen Sink Stamps

This Kitchen Sink Stamps sponsored design was made for Mother's Day using the large butterfly from Butterfly Kisses which is no longer available. This same butterfly in a slightly smaller size is one of the butterflies which is a part of the 3 butterfly set called Butterflies. The sentiment is from Whole Family.

I used a beautiful designer paper from Graphic 45 and the Spellbinder's die is a part of a set called Callista Rectangle Shadowbox Frame. I added 3 opal stones to finish off the card.

SCS Technique Lover's Challenge #937 - Crate Card

While looking for something new to try for today's Kitchen Sink Stamps sponsored design, I happened upon Technique Lover's Challenge #937 over at Splitcoaststampers. Today's challenge was to create a crate card using their tutorial created by the talented Helen found here. I decided to give it a try for my Valentine collection.

I really love how it turned out! One really cool thing about it is that it folds flat to fit in an A2 envelope for mailing! How great is that!

KSS - Let's Make a Scene - Mother's Day Kitchen Table

For today's Let's Make a Scene design sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps, I have created a Mother's Day kitchen table still-life scene featuring the KSS Hydrangea Multi Step Clear Stamps and a sentiment from KSS Whole Family Clear Stamps.

As a child I can remember my grandmother and grandfather always coming to visit at our house on Mother's Day, and they always brought my mother a beautiful potted hydrangea.
Some years it was pink and some years it was purple. So every third year or so, I carry on the tradition by featuring a hydrangea on my mother's card on Mother's Day.

I started first by stenciling a wallpaper design on the cardfront  using Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide. The stencil is by Heidi Swapp. I then added wood plank designer paper from My Mind's Eye on the bottom fourth of the card. Next I stamped Mom on the die cut jar and added the bow before securing it to the card front. 

Now I was ready for the hydrangeas. Here is the Color Recipe I used to create them.

I want to share a little something that I do when fussy cutting that I think makes a great difference in the look of the card.  I always sponge the edges of the cut out pieces in a medium tone color to insure that no white from the cardstock shows. 

After I had finished the sponging, I glued down the leaves and the small hydrangea and all the leaves to the card front. The finishing touch was to pop-up the large hydrangea with dimensional.

Texas Father's Day - KSS

I have been making a real effort of late to get my act together and be ready for things well ahead of time for a change. One of my huge character flaws is my tendency to procrastinate which can be a real problem when unexpected  events get thrown into the mix. And around my house, unexpected is often the word of the day!

Let's Make a Mother's Day Scene - KSS

For today's Mother's Day card sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps, I got a little ahead of myself thinking this was the second Monday in May, and I created a Let's Make a Scene design. This card is for my daughter-in-law. Our weekend will be filled with celebrations of all sorts. Not only is it Mother's Day, but my oldest granddaughter is graduating from college with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. We are all traveling up together on Friday for the pinning ceremony, Saturday with be the graduation, and Sunday we will celebrate Mother's Day.

KSS - Ladybug Parade

The 4th Monday of the month brings with it another Let's Make a Scene design sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps. For this cheerful birthday card, I stamped the two sunflowers from Giant Sunflower Multi Step Clear Stamps first and then the stems and leaves. I next placed masks over the flowers and leaves and laid a lattice stencil over the top. Then it was safe to sponge the grassy background and the sky. After removing the stencil and the masks, I added the four ladybugs. Finally after matting it and mounting it to the card front, I added the Happy Birthday sentiment from Whole Family Clear Stamps with Versafine Onyx Black ink.

August COF - Life's Simple Pleasures

For today's design sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps, I have created a card for the Crafters of Faith Challenge. The Crafters of Faith is a group of wonderful Christian ladies who have joined together over on Splitcoaststampers in this faith-based group. Our mission is to encourage each other, chat with each other, lift each other up, pray for each other, and craft together with scripture as our focus.

August is my month to serve as hostess of this challenge,  and I have chosen as this month's scripture James 1:17 --- Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. CCEE1521 - Fabric and Corrugated paper

Joanne is the CCEE hostess for the CCEE Stampers and this week has challenged us to use fabric and corrugated paper on our card or project.  The corrugated paper may be made with a crimper or already crimped.  The fabric must be something other than a ribbon.
