CCEE1935 - Card of Encouragement

August CCEE hostess, Anne Harmon, has challenged the CCEE Stampers to each create a card of encouragement and put it in the mail to a friend.

Recessed Baseball - KSS

My sweet cyber friend, Sabrina Friel, posted a fun design for Try a New Technique Challenge #757 over at Splitcoaststampers this morning. Since I have been reupholstering chairs for the church all week (I have blisters on top of blisters from prying staples out of hard wood), and did not have my Kitchen Sink Stamps sponsored card done for today, I decided to give it a try! It involves recessing the designer paper behind the raised card front. I tried and tried to get a great photograph so you could see the depth easily, but this is the best I could do.

The baseball bat, baseball glove, and sentiment are all a part of the Kitchen Sink Stamps' Baseball Multi Step Clear Stamps set.

The designer paper is from the Good Ol' Sport Collection by Graphic 45.

I am also attaching the color recipes I used today for those who may be interested.

CCEE1934 - Fancy Folds

For her next-to-last challenge, CCEE August hostess, Anne Harmon has asked us to create a design with a fancy fold. She said, " Use whatever fancy fold that takes your fancy!!"

This is the front of my card. All images on the front are from Kitchen Sink Stamps.

And this is the inside where the "fancy" is hidden! The sentiment is from Picket Fence and the fruit stickers are from the Paper Studio.

10 Minute Love Note - KSS

Way back in the years when I was just beginning with Kitchen Sink Stamps (2008, 2009), I did a series of cards called 10 Minute Cards. Although I am probably more known for the scenes that I create with KSS, clean and simple designs have always appealed to me as well. So today's Kitchen Sink Stamps sponsored design is a masculine 10 minute love note for your significant other.

I love this solitary and stoic bird from the newly released Seaside Seagull Multi Step Clear Stamps. I pulled the sentiment from Words 4 Celebrating Clear Stamps. One layer of the starfish from Sea Shells Multi Step Clear Stamps was used to create the background of the kraft cardfront.

You can see in the color recipe below how I kept one part of the bird stark white by masking instead of stamping part of layer one of the seagull.

CCEE 1933 - Vacation Destination

Anne Harmon, our August hostess, has created another fun challenge for the CCEE Stampers.  This week she has asked us all to create a card using a vacation destination .... one we love or would like to go to, and to make sure to add a 3D element for fun.

All my travels this summer have been in Texas. It is a huge place, you know!! The images on my card are all from my favorite Texas rubber stamp company, Deadbeat Designs. The sentiments are computer generated.

Let's Make a Scene #101 - KSS

It's hard to believe that I have been making and posting Let's Make a Scene cards sponsored by and created with Kitchen Sink Stamps for almost 5 years now. Being the second Monday of August means that it is time for another one, and I am proud to say that this one is #101. It's another masculine birthday card which I need many of about this time of the year.

The images used to create this design come from the following KSS sets:

Mallard Ducks Multi Step Clear Stamps

Shoreline Rocks Multi Step Clear Stamps

Cattails Multi Step Clear Stamps

Words 4 Celebrating Clear Stamps

To create this card I stamped the male and female ducks first on a 4.5 x 6.6 white panel. I then masked the ducks and added the rocks and lake. After masking the rocks, I added the cattails. To finish the card I brushed on a blue sky and dabbed on white acrylic paint clouds. Once they were dried (maybe one minute), I added the sentiment. To turn the panel into a card, I matted it with brown and attached it to a kraft 5 x 7 card.

CCEE1932 - Embossing - Wet or Dry

Anne Harmon, our CCEE Stampers' hostess for the month of August has challenged us this week, to use either wet or dry embossing.  Embossing adds so much to a card.  Add some bling (glitter, gems, sequins, etc.)

I have watercolored a cute  little embossed neighborhood from Darice. (Looks like I forgot to paint the wheels on the car and bus! I'll go back and do that before I mail this out.)The paper is Bo Bunny and the charm is by Tim Holtz. The stamped sentiment is from Everything Comes Full Turn by Unity.

Monochromatic Lighthouse - KSS

For today's Kitchen Sink Stamps' sponsored design, I have stamped a monochromatic card using images and sentiments from Lighthouse Multi Step Clear Stamps and images from Isle of Big Bay Lake Multi Step Clear Stamps. When I finished the stamping, I embossed the panel with this nautical compass embossing folder from Darice. My final step was to sponge the embossing with Seaside Spray by Stampin' Up.

My favorite method for creating clouds is to dab my finger in white acrylic paint and pat it around until I get the cloud shapes I want. It is quick and easy and like real clouds, I get a variety of shapes.

CCEE1930 - Moth Week

Owl by Big Bay Lake - KSS

Today's Let's Make a Scene design sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps is one of the cards I created for display at Junkie Fest in Minnesota last month. It is the final card I rushed to finish before shipping the prepared cards to Maria. It was down to the wire so I didn't get any notes recorded about the colors on this card.
