CCEE1909 - Tooth Fairy Day

According to the days of the year calendar, today is tooth fairy day. Our CCEE February Hostess Maryann Einam has asked the CCEE Stampers to make a card and include a fairy.

Fairies are few and far between in my collection. In fact, I could find none. I chose this clip art fairy silhouette and added a sentiment from Hugs, Kisses, and Birthday Wishes by Unity and stars from Friends of the Moon by Kitchen Sink Stamps

KSS - Marlin Birthday

I have a fisherman friend who is having a birthday this coming week so today's card, sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps, was created with him in mind. It features the large marlin from Deep Sea Marlin Multi Step Clear Stamps and the fishnet from Ocean Waters Multi Step Clear Stamps.

The embossed anchors are made using the Yacht Club Embossing Folder by Bella Carta. The die cut steering wheel is from Couture Creations. The die cut starfish is by Cuttlebug and the punched grass is by Martha Stewart.

Pop- Up Hydrangea Birthday - Kitchen Sink Stamps

As most of you know, I am not known for creating cards that take a lot of time to complete. I am more of a clean and simple (meaning quick with just ink and paper) type of stamper. But today I wanted to spend some extra time to create a special card for a beautiful lady who I love with all my heart. Her birthday is just around the corner in March when all the flowers start to bloom. Therefore today's card sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps is a pop-up birthday design featuring an urn of gorgeous spring hydrangea from Hydrangea Multi Step Clear Stamps and a sentiment from Word 4 Celebrating Clear Stamps. From start to finish this card took me 2 hours and 10 minutes to complete

I took a few extra photos during the process since I am a visual learner, and a picture is work a thousand words to me.

The finished card folds flat and fits into an invitation envelope.

The card started with an 8.5 x 4.25 piece of white cardstock which I scored at 5.5. I added the die cut frill on the bottom of the card for grounding the urn and the pop-up. It is a die from a set called Opulent Swirls by The Crafter's Companion.

Using my travel Tim Holtz Stamping Platform, I stamped all the images I thought I would use for the card.

I then used strips of cardstock to create my pop-up rectangles. Their size is determined by the object you plan to place up front. I was placing the urn in front so my rectangles had to be narrower than I would have liked. Next time I will use heavier card stock for better support.

I then attached the urn, two hydrangea and several leaves to the front pop-up rectangle. That was followed with more flowers and leaves on the second rectangle.

After I centered the pop-ups on the base of the card and attached them securely with score tape to the back and bottom, I added more flowers and leaves to the card front for a third layer for additional depth.

CCEE1907 - Birthday Cards

In addition to being Valentine's Day, today is also the birthday of the CCEE Stampers' February hostess, Maryann Einam. So in honor of Maryann's big day, the CCEE Stampers are making birthday cards. I decided to go fun and masculine.

The stamp set I used is the Lawn Ranger by Art Impressions. The dies I used include Country Scapes Mountains by Elizabeth Craft Designs and Grassy Edges and Rolling Hills Die-Namics by My Favorite Things.

Ladybug Valentine - Kitchen Sink Stamps

If you are visiting today looking for a Let's Make a Scene design, I am going to have to disappoint you (but not too much, I hope). With Valentine's Day on Thursday, I needed one more Valentine to put in today's mail. Therefore this creation, sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps, is a Valentine which features two Kitchen Sink Stamp sets: Heart & Roses Multi Step Clear Stamps and Ladybug Hugs Multi Step Clear Stamps.

Here is how I created the image panel. First I stamped the rose. I then stamped the ladybug on the lower right petal of the rose. I then added a mask to the ladybug and the rose which allowed me to add the leaves. Finally, I used my magic makeup brushes to clean up the tiny gaps left after masking. Those things are AWESOME!!

I created the card with the following challenges in mind:

International Art & Soul #51 Make Your Own Background

The background was created with three Distress Oxide Inks: Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry, and Candied Apple. I put splotches of the two pinks and spritzed with water before drying it. I then sponged on the stenciled script (The Crafter's Workshop) with Picked Raspberry. I dried it and added more water splotches and dried it again. The final addition to the background was the tiny hearts stamped in Candied Apple.

Faux Pressed Flowers and Embedded Embossing - TLC728 featuring KSS

I am so excited to see you today! Thanks for dropping by!!

Today's Technique Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers seemed the perfect technique to create this floral Valentine sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps.

I first stamped the carnations on both colored cardstock and white cardstock. I then die cut part of the white panel with a frilly heart die. I then carefully aligned the flowers to get a perfect match before gluing down the white heart and running both through my Gemini Junior.  I love the way this Valentine turned out!

In honor of several of my friends who are currently buried knee-deep in snow, I have created another wintery Valentine. This Let's Make a Scene design sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps features the swans from Love Birds and this sweet, sweet sentiment from Love 4 Ducky & Teddy. It has been a while since I have stamped with the swans. I think this might be the last Let's Make a Scene design I made with a swan and it had an autumn theme.

Layer 1 was not stamped. I cut a mask of Layer 1 and covered the birds to preserve the white while sponging on the water with Distress Oxide Tumbled Glass.

I added a little dry grass on the torn-paper snow banks.

CCEE1904 - Gold

January CCEE hostess, Liz Williams, tell us that gold was discovered in California on Jan. 24, 1848. Therefore, she has asked the CCEE Stampers to feature gold on our creations this week. Glittery gold paper, gold chrome cardstock, gold embossing, or any other golden possibilities.

I have created this gold and purple birthday design for my mother who will be celebrating her birthday in a few weeks. The stamp set I have used is First Frost by Stampin' Up with its matching dies. The rose frame die and sentiment die are by Crafter's Companion.

Envelope Art and Non-Traditional Valentine - KSS

Since I spent yesterday watching football instead of card-making (both my teams LOST by the way), I woke up this morning without my Kitchen Sink sponsored design ready for posting. When that happens on occasion, I head over to Splitcoaststampers to see what the challenges might be for the day.

I found one that was just to my liking - Technique Challenge 726 - Envelope Art. I don't usually take the time to create a matching envelope for my cards, but it sure is fun when I do.
