CCEE 1434 - Back to School

Back before I retired from the classroom, late August was always the most exciting time of the school year. Everyone was anxious to learn who their teachers would be and how many of their friends would be in their classes. Every child entered the classroom on the first day decked out in their favorite new clothes and staggering under the weight of all their new school supplies.

I have been retired for 10 years now, and I still miss the crazy, busy excitement of that first day of school, but tomorrow morning I will get to experience that excitement in a new way. I will be delivering my oldest granddaughter to college and helping her move into her dorm. We are starting out in the wee hours of the morning so we will have plenty of time to settle in after our 3 hour drive.

For this week's CCEE Challenge, Amber has us going Back to School! -   She has asked that we make a card or item that can be given to the teacher at open house or first day of school.

My design is dedicated to elementary teachers everywhere. The love of reading established by devoted teachers has served my son and his children well. It is the key that opens the door to success for all children.

  1. I love this! I so agree with the sentiment. One time when we moved I made the brave effort to get rid of some books - but I ended up buying more than a few of them again when I wanted to re-read them. That edge punch is just delightful.
Safe driving - and have a great day together with your granddaughter.

I still get excited thinking of the first day of school way back when I was a small fry, of course, that and the last day of school were the only days out of the school year I did not object to attending!
