What's on Your Workdesk? Wednesday 217

I had such fun last week traveling the globe and peeking into the work space of many talents crafters. Julia Dunnit hosts What's on Your Workdesk? Wednesday over on her blog Stamping Ground. This week is WOYWW 217. Check it out and join in the fun!

Here is what my desk looks like this week.

This week I have been taking part in the Dare to Get Dirty Challenges over at Splitcoaststampers. It is an annual event hosted for members of the Fan Club. In a seven day period there will be 42 challenges. Yikes! I have managed to keep up with 23 projects completed so far.

As I look at my desk, I am seeing four of the projects: 3 finished and one in progress. The penguin is a treat box and just to his left is a gift tag. In front of his feet is a card which used the chalkboard technique. I like that card so much that I am going to make a dozen of them to give to a friend who is having surgery this week to use as thank you notes.

The unfinished project is the card using Art Impressions' At the Movies. I have recently started collecting their girlfriend series and am having so much fun with them. Below you will find the finished card.

You can see this week that to the left of my desk is an old card catalog. Kids today don't even know what it is! At my house it has been repurposed to hold tons of crafting supplies. Those I need most are stored closest to my desk within arm's reach. The two open drawers hold dimensionals and Scor-Tape. Taped to the side of the card catalog are cards I have received from stampers around the world. Some of you may see your work there!

Here are the projects seen on my desk:

House-Mouse with Sparkle

Today's card was created for two challenges (HMFMC149 and SC446) and one purpose ( to get started on this year's Christmas cards)! I am making a real effort to play along with the House Mouse and Friends Monday Challenge because those little mice are so darn cute and I have over 60 of them in my stamp collection, half of which have never seen ink. My goal is to use each and every one of them by year's end!

Here's a link to Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenge 446. There are lots of creative cards using this sketch found there!

What's on Your Workdesk? Wednesday - 216

Today is my first day to play What's on Your Workdesk? Wednesday. I found it last week on Danie's blog and had such fun visiting the blogs of those who played along. The object is to show your workdesk on Wednesday and explain what it going on there.

I just received a new shipment from Stampin' Up and am busy unmounting the rubber from the wheels I purchased.  I cut the jumbo wheel called Birthday Candles into pieces, some to keep and some to share. I used the scotch tape to mask the rubber from left to right as I inked each candle a different color.

The bins in the upper left hold cardstock scraps. The white bin to the right of my scrap bins contains my clean sponges. I never seem to have enough of those. As I use them, they are put in a mesh bag and thrown in the wash with the blue jeans.

The tower behind my Ott light holds my Copic markers and Prisma Color Pencils.

An interesting fact about my desk is that it was built by my great grandfather as a library table around 1920. He was a German woodcrafter who came to America through Ellis Island around 1905. Although he died before I was born, I am the proud owner of three of his furniture pieces.

Here's the finished card using the birthday candles! Irene and Liz, the rest of the candles are headed your way!

Torn Paper 10 + 10 KSS Design

This week's 10 Minutes and 10 Minutes More Kitchen Sink Stamps' designs are created using torn paper. I sponged over torn paper to create the ocean waves, and I torn the paper islands and seashore. I haven't gotten to the beach yet this summer, but my mind keeps taking me there!

I am so glad Lisa requested that Maria create a layered lighthouse! I can't seem to put it down!

The lighthouse was stamped on white card stock, cut out, and glued to the torn paper island.

HB, Girlfriend!

Added another Girlfriends image to my collection this weekend while in Houston to meet a stamping friend from Florida. No trip to Texas would be complete without a trip to Archiver's even if we did get stuck in rush hour traffic for 2 and a half hours!

I used my new stamp to create today's birthday card.

Have You Kissed a Toad Lately?

I love when Hobby Lobby moves their House-Mouse images to the clearance corner. Earlier this month I snapped up about 10 that I couldn't live without. I'll wait a while for the others to drop one more time, before I grab them for my collection as well.

The one I used today was in the "must have" group I picked up. I created this card for the Ways to Use It Challenge at Splitcoaststampers which required the addition of hardware.

10 Minutes and 10 Minutes More Roses

When in need of a feminine sympathy card, I reach more often than not for Hearts & Roses Multi Step Clear Stamps by Kitchen Sink Stamps. Nothing can more perfectly represent a beautiful life lost than a delicate, long-stemmed rose.

For the 10 minute card today, I stamped directly on the pink card front. I love how gentle and delicate the roses look on the pale pink.

KSS 10+10 Design 130

I had the most fabulous weekend spending time with my closest stamping buddies from the Gulf Coast Paper Crafters attending the Creating Keepsakes Scrapbook Convention in The Woodlands! We opted to spend all of our time and dollars in the Vendors' Fair and came away with lots of amazing products. I am showcasing one of my purchases with the designs I have created.

The cards I am sharing today were created with the Sizzix Accordion Flip Album die. It is so easy and fast to put together. And the fun thing about the finished cards are that they fold flat and mail in a 5.5 square envelope. How neat is that! Each panel is cut separately and you can string together as many as you like. For the 10 minute card I put together 2 panels. For the 20 minute card I, of course, doubled the panels to 4.
