SCS Sketch Challenge 425

I was shopping the bargains at Hobby Lobby this week and found a stunning pad of nautical papers by K&Company! They are so prefect for the masculine cards of encouragement I need for my cards for the church.

KSS 10 Minute Design #111

To create today's fun cards, I took a 4.25 x 5.5 inch panel of designer paper and cut it in half diagonally. I then flipped the pieces over and used a tiny piece of tape to hold the two halves together so I could cut it in half again from the opposite corners. This resulted in 4 panels of designer paper which I used to design two cards. The two opposite panels of designer paper were attached to a colored card front.

To complete each card, I stamped my Kitchen Sink Stamps images on a square of white card stock, added a colored mat, and mounted it on the diagonal in the center of the card.

10 Minute Emboss Resist

We all know that stamping on colored papers with dye ink is seldom a successful endeavor. The images always come out looking dull and colorless. One of the things I love about the emboss resist technique is that it allows your stamped images to "look like" they were stamped on brightly colored paper when they were actually stamped on white card stock.

Today's 10 minute cards all started out the same way. I stamped my layered images on white card stock and then stamped layer one of the image with Versamark over the finished image. After sprinkling that with clear embossing powder, I  heat embossed it. Next came a sentiment stamped in Versamark and clear embossed as well. Now came the fun part. I picked a brightly colored ink and sponged the heck out of it over the entire surface. I rubbed over the images with a tissue to pick up any stray ink. You can see the results below.

Mix-Ability Challenge #1 - Yin Yang

Inspired by the amazing work of my talented blog buddy, Julie Short (you can see her amazing work here), I have decided to try my hand at a little mixed media fun. Splitcoaststampers has a new weekly challenge called Mix-Ability, and to play along I have to get somewhat out of my comfort zone.

In the first SCS Mix-Ability Challenge called Yin Yang participants were to include a matte finish with a shiny one. I used Jo Sonja's purple acrylic gouache for the matte surface and Ranger's Rich Red embossing powder for shine. The die cut heart is rimmed with microbeads and popped up over the painted surface with dimensionals.

CASology Week 30 - Fairytale

The frog I used to create today's card for the CASology Week 30 Fairytale Challenge is one of the free thank you stamps I received as a gift with purchase from Kitchen Sink Stamps. The sentiment that came with it says "Hope I toad you thanks!" I used my computer to generate my sentiment to go along with the Fairytale theme of the challenge! This will be my hubby's Valentine!
