He Lives!

Blogger seems to be having major issues today! My card appears and disappears with no rhyme or reason. If it is missing now, you can view it in my Splitcoaststampers Gallery here!

For centuries the flowered cross has signified the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter morning. So for this Kitchen Sink Monday, I used my KSS lilies, hydrangeas, tulips, sunflowers, and  tiny wild flowers to create for you a flowered cross. This is a one layer card created completely by masking.

I printed the sentiment on Pure White cardstock by GinaK. I then created a cross using two strips of cardstock. After centering the cross on the card, I sponged around it with SU So Saffron to create the space I wanted to fill with flowers.

After removing the cardstock cross, I started stamping in the center of the space with the lilies. I stamped the flowers, masked them, and worked outward from there. Stamp, mask, stamp, mask, stamp, mask until all the space was filled.

It is always a surprise as I peel off the masks to see what I have actually created! I'm happy with this! I hope you like it, too!

The Hunt Continues.......

As we continue the Paper Temptress/Kitchen Sink Treasure Hunt for the Pot of Gold Giveaway, today the members of the Kitchen Sink Crew are all creating cards and projects for you using beautiful papers from the Paper Temptress St. Patty's KSS Package as well as images from Multi Step Shamrocks & Clover by Kitchen Sink Stamps. At some of the stops, you will find the clues you are looking for to solve the puzzle, at some you will not.

I hope you just happen to have your note pad handy because you will want to add to it "a wish" which is one of today's clues.

My card was created using Paper Temptress' Neenah Green as my card base, and I used my heart Nestabilities to cut 4 hearts from Spring Green Classic Columns(also from Paper Temptress) to create the 4-leaf-clover.

I used a mix of Kitchen Sink images to create the background design. The 4-leaf-clovers are from Kitchen Sink's newly released Shamrocks & Clover Multi Step Clear Stamps which is part of the Treasure Hunt prize! All the words both on the cardfront and the clover leaf are from Multi Step Hanukkah by Kitchen Sink. The tiny dotted heart is from Kitchen Sink's Mix It Up! Clear Stamps.

Stamps: Shamrocks & Clover Multi Step Clear Stamps, Hanukkah Multi Step Clear Stamps, and Mix It Up! Clear Stamps by Kitchen Sink Stamp
Papers: Neenah Green and Spring Green Classic Columns from Paper Temptress

Remember, you will be searching for clues to a puzzle at each blog along the way. Not all the stops will have a clue, but by March 19, if you have searched carefully, you will have collected all the pieces to the puzzle.

To enter for a chance to win a Special St. Patty's KSS Green Package from Paper Temptress as well as Kitchen Sink Stamps' newly released Multi Step Shamrocks & Clover and two Memento Dew Drops, just assemble the pieces into a St. Patrick's phrase and email it to Patricia at patricia@papertemptress.com before midnight, March 24th.

For additional details, drop by Patricia's Paper Temptress Blog!

There are more clues to be found today so be sure you visit the entire Kitchen Sink Crew!!

Connie's challenge for us today is to use basic masking in our designs! Please join us in this challenge using KSCC23 as your keyword and uploading your design onto the Kitchen Sink Weblog using Mr. Linky. Be sure you to use your Kitchen Sink Stamps to create a masked design to be included in the drawing for winners. Three winners will be randomly selected to win some KSS cash to spend in the Kitchen Sink Store!!

For my first design today I mixed the new Multi Step Lilacs with 3 Step Butterflies and 3 Step Daisies to create my card. The butterfly was stamped first and masked to add the lilac.

Stamps: Lilacs Multi Step Clear Stamps, Butterflies Multi Step Clear Stamps
and Daisy Multi Step Clear Stamps
Papers: Pink Pirouette, Purely Pomegranate, Kiwi Kiss, and Whisper White by Stampin' Up, eva by BasicGrey
Inks: Butterfly - Layer 1 - Memento Cantalope, Layer 2 - Memento Tangelo, Layer 3 - Memento Tuxedo Black;    Lilac - Layer 4 - SU Rose Red, Layer 3 - SU Rose Romance, Layer 2 - SU Mauve Mist, Layer 1- SU Pretty in Pink;   Stem and Leaves - Layer 1 - SU Kiwi Kiss, Layer 2 - SU Old Olive stamped off once, Layer 3 - SU Old Olive
Tools: Sponge and Crop-o-dile
Embellishment: Ribbon

For my next masked creation I used the new Multi Step Little Lambs along with Multi Step Bitty Tulip Bouquet and 3 Step Honey Bunny.

I'll also share a little trick I use when stamping images like this lamb which need to be very light in color but can be difficult to see! I always stamp them on white paper and then mask them to add a stamped and/or sponged background. It really helps define the image and made it stand out on the card. The grass was stamped over the masked lamb and then the sky was sponged with SU Bashful Blue before adding the tulips.
