I love sunsets at the beach!

I created this card for two challenges this morning. Flourishes' Design Team member, Dee Jackson, challenged stampers  in Flourishes' Timeless Tuesday Challenge 54 to create a card using what we love. Well, I love sunsets on the beach!! So I stamped up some shells from Flourishes' Seaside Life to create a sunset beachscape.

You can't create a sunset without using a fair amount of orange so this card also fits Julia S's Ways to Use It 258 -Orange Love!

Stamps: Seaside Life by Flourishes, Forever in Our Hearts by Verve Stamps
Papers: Kraft, Dusty Durango, Whisper White, Sage Shadow, and Soft Suede by Stampin' Up
Inks: Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Cool Caribbean, and Soft Suede by Stampin' Up

Cheers to the Irish!

I'm still having fun playing with various Kitchen Sink stamps to create interesting backgrounds for my cards (which is the challenge for this month, in case you haven't entered KSCC#22). I wanted to make some shamrocks to go with my mug of beer to create a card for Saint Patrick's Day. So I started digging through my Kitchen Sink Stamps to see what I could use. I pulled the heart from Heart & Roses Multi Step Clear Stamps and a stem ( 3c) from Tulip Garden Multi Step Clear Stamps and combined them to design my shamrock background. I used Multi Step Cup of Warm Comfort to make the beer mug.

Here's what I did to end up with beer instead of hot chocolate. I was very careful to wipe off the foam portion on each layer after inking and before stamping. When I had finished all 4 layers of the mug, I used a paintbrush and Versamark reinker to paint the foam area, sprinkle it with seafoam white embossing power, and heat emboss it.

The sentiments were computer generated.

Create Your Own Designer Paper

Makiko has planned a fun challenge for the Kitchen Sink Crew today. She asked us to take out our Kitchen Sink Stamps and create our own designer paper! Yipee!! This gives me a chance to use one of my favorite techniques: masking!

On each of my cards, I started with the butterflies first, covered them with a mask and then stamped the flowers. I then masked the flowers and added the leaves. On the rose card I also filled in all the blank spaces with "stars" from Friends of the Moon!

I hope you get the chance to play along! Remember to use your Kitchen Sink Stamps to create your own designer paper and then use it to create a card! Three lucky winners will get a chance to do some free shopping in the Kitchen Sink Store!! Once you have created your card, post it on the Kitchen Sink Weblog using Mr. Linky.

Stamps: Butterflies Multi Step Clear Stamps, Daisy Multi Step Clear Stamps, Love Birds Multi Step Clear Stamps, and Simple Sentiments Clear Stamps
Papers: Barely Banana, Kiwi Kiss, and Melon Mambo by Stampin' Up
Inks: Butterflies - Layer 3 - Versafine Onyx Black, Layer 2 - SU Apricot Appeal, Large Daisy - Layer 2- SU Melon Mambo, Layer 1 - SU Pixie Pink, Layer 3 - SU Purely Pomegranate, Small Daisy - Layer 2 - SU Pumpkin Pie, Layer 1 - SU Apricot Appeal, Leaves- Layer 1 - SU Kiwi Kiss
Tools: Circle Punches
Embellishment: Ribbon

Stamps:  Butterflies Multi Step Clear Stamps, Heart & Roses Multi Step Clear Stamps, Never a Loss 4 Words Clear Stamps, and Friends of the Moon Clear Stamps
Papers: Pink Pirouette, Kiwi Kiss, and Melon Mambo by Stampin' Up
Inks: Butterflies - Layer 3 - Versafine Vintage Sepia, Layer 2 - SU Pretty in Pink, Roses - Layer 4 - SU Purely Pomegranate, Layer 3 - SU Melon Mambo, Layer 2 - SU Melon Mambo stamped off once, Layer 1 - SU Pretty in Pink, Leaves - Layer 1 - SU Kiwi Kiss, Layer 3 - SU Old Olive
Tools: Punches
Embellishments: Brown Spica Pen, Rhinestones, Ribbon

One tip about masking! I cut my masks from Post-It Labels which are sticky all over the back and I stick them to the front of the acetate cover of my stamp set so that I can reuse them many times without having to cut more!

Don't forget to check out the fun "designer papers" created by all the crew members today!!
